Gen No Nukes Internship Project

In 2021, Rooj Ali and Avinashpall Singh were a part of the IPPNWC Internship Program. Both Rooj and Avinash were intrigued by the history of the nuclear disarmament movement in Canada. In particular, learning that there was a rapid decline in the stockpile of nuclearweapons coinciding with the establishment of organizations such as IPPNW.

On August 9th, Rooj and Avinash jointly launched @gennonukes, An Instagram account providing clear, concise information on nuclear weapons; their history, manufacture, use, effects, and implications in the 21st century. Ultimately seeking to present its audience with a general, starting knowledge while encouraging further research and direct participation in the disarmament movement. Rooj and Avinash believe in addressing the lack of awareness among youth (15-24) and hope that those that visit the page feel empowered to learn more and join the tide of change in realizing a world free from the threat of nuclear weapons.
