IPPNWC Advisor Tariq Rauf Speaks on “Ending the Perpetual Menace of Nuclear Weapons”

Tariq Rauf, an international expert in the field of nuclear disarmament and a member of the IPPNWC Advisory Board, gave a thought-provoking lecture titled "Ending the Perpetual Menace of Nuclear Weapons". The lecture, held on October 23rd, 2023 and presented by The Canadians for a Nuclear Weapons Convention (CNWC) and the Centre for International Policy Studies, provided a comprehensive overview of the treaties and mechanisms involved in achieving the goal of eliminating nuclear weapons.

This event aimed to shed light on the heightened risks associated with the extensive and continually modernizing nuclear arsenals of major powers. Tariq Rauf is the former Head of Verification and Security Policy at the International Atomic Energy Agency, and former Director of the Disarmament, Arms Control and Non-Proliferation Programme at the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI). He outlined essential policies and actions required to make meaningful strides toward a world free of nuclear weapons.
